A Bedroom

The Sugarhouse also features numerous wood-block prints and engravings from local Vermont and New Hampshire artists including Jeanne Robacher and Sabra Field.

In the full kitchen for those who want to cook, we installed a Sub-Zero refrigerator and Jenn-Air convection oven, cook top, microwave and dishwasher. (A gas grill is located on the terrace.) There is a full compliment of Calphalon cookware and a 9-piece block set of Henckels cutlery. A Maytag washer and dryer is inconspicuously concealed in a closet. A full-bath is also included on the first floor.

Two bedrooms are on the second floor-one with a queen-size bed and the other with two twin beds. Each bedroom is distinctive with one having a skylight and a large window facing West and the second has three large windows and a door leading to a deck at the back of the house. From this deck there are stone stairs leading up to forest trails. A half-bath is also on the second floor.

There are two televisions in The Sugarhouse with satellite programming. One is Plasma television located in the living room and the other in the large bedroom.

The restoration of The Sugarhouse was completed in December 2000. The Sugarhouse retains its weathered exterior and looks much like it did decades before. Outside we added several curved stone retaining walls, walls that only Vermont stone masons know how to build; a gently sweeping stone walk; a terrace outside the front door and stone steps to the forest above the house. We included more windows to make it bright inside and double French doors for the first floor entry. We did, however, retain a sliding door as was used in the original sugarhouse.

Considerable changes were made inside. On the first floor we included a dining area and a living room with a large leather sofa and chairs, a Vermont Castings wood-burning stove and a unique coffee table made from one of the original sap pans. It contains a collection of sugaring artifacts under a glass top.

The Sugarhouse includes a Sony 42" Plasma television along with HDTV. We also have three dozen films you can play on the DVD player that will give you a theater-like experience. The Plasma television was placed in a cabinet so that when the doors are closed the television will not intrude on the experience of vacationing in a 100 year old sugarhouse.
